Adidas hockey set for gold?
2022 has seen the Queens Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years. So it is only fitting that the Commonwealth Games 2022 takes place in Birmingham, England. Birmingham 2022 starts on Thursday 28th July, with the closing ceremony on the 8th of August. The Commonwealth Games motto is “Games for everyone”, this is the third time that the international multi-sport event has been held in the UK.
This year the international male and female field hockey teams will be staged for the seventh time since its debut in 1998, hosted at the University of Birmingham hockey centre.
England hockey men’s are in Pool B, whilst the women’s team is in Pool A in their respective competitions. Plus, both sides face the same opposition in the group stages, with India, Canada, Wales and Ghana all looking to proceed to the semi-finals.
Furthermore, the top two teams from each Pool qualify for the semi-finals, with the women’s final on August 7th and the men’s tournament final on August 8th.
Adidas hockey will be prominent at this year’s Birmingham 2022 hockey tournament. Two of the three home nations will be wearing Adidas hockey teamwear. Furthermore, Adidas teamwear is worn by England and Wales hockey. The third home nations team Scotland wear the Canterbury sportswear brand.
