The Philippines RU B team travel to the home of Eton Manor RFC
The new rugby season is nearly upon us, and teams across the country are fully into their pre-season training. After a very successful previous season, Eton Manor RFC are looking to take it one step further this year, with a positive outlook on the season ahead. Last season, their men’s 1st XV finished 3rd in the Regional 2 Anglia league, accumulating a total of 1,008 points—the most scored across all divisions in England and the most ever scored by the club in its 96 year tenure. The same team were also awarded Team of the Month in January after winning all four of their games, leading the league with a 160-point difference. The Eton Manor Women’s team secured a solid 5th place in the NC1 South East (North League) last season, and were invited to play at the Twickenham Takeover Day in April, which saw the ladies win all 3 of their games!
A very exciting pre-season for the blue and blues
The London-based team kicked off their 2024 pre-season campaign with a win, as their men’s 1st team took on Trowbridge RFC in the first of a pre-season triple header. The blue and blue secured victory with a 12-point margin, the full-time score being 31-43. To conclude this round of fixtures, the Philippines RU B team will be travelling down to Nutter Lane on the 29th of August for a highly anticipated match under the floodlights. The international side (also known as the Maharlikans) are not the only international side to play at Eton Manor, with Cyprus travelling over in 2019 and 2021.
