Andy Murray began his 2023 Wimbledon campaign with a straight-sets victory over fellow Brit Ryan Peniston, conceding only four games during the match. The 36-year-old cruised to victory, overwhelming his opponent in the second set. Peniston played his best tennis in the third set but there was nothing he could do against the three-time major winner.
Tuesday’s result was the ideal start to Murray’s tournament, but more difficult obstacles await him in the next round where he will face either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Dominic Thiem. Murray will be optimistic given his current form.
