Denmark launches their new controversial Hummel football kit

The Danish company Hummel have revealed their new Denmark national football team kit for the Qatar World Cup. Hummel is one of the leading football kit suppliers, providing soccer kits for Premier League clubs Southampton and Everton. However, the new Denmark kit protests against the host nation for the Qatar World Cup, creating a lot of attention. The nation’s badge and Hummel branding are concealed, blending in with the colour of the shirt and shorts.

Hummel has said they “don’t wish to be visible during a tournament that has cost thousands of people their lives”. The national team and Hummel have even designed a third kit black kit to mourn migrant workers involved in preparations for the World Cup who have died.

The Hummel press release said: “We support the Danish national team all the way, but that isn’t the same as supporting Qatar as a host nation.” Hummel posted on Instagram, saying: “We wish to make a statement about Qatar’s human rights record and its treatment of the migrant workers that have built the country’s World Cup stadiums.”

The World Cup group games

Denmark is ranked 10th in the world, recently reaching the European Championship semifinals. The Danish team will play France (the defending champions) in their World Cup group. Other teams in their group include Australia and Tunisia. Denmark will wear their kit for the opening game on the 22nd of November against Tunisia.
