The Lionesses are roaring ahead at Women's World Cup 2023
The Lionesses faced Haiti in their opening game, and while it may not have been as straightforward for England as many would have expected, the Lionesses won 1-0. England’s second game was a 1-0 triumph over Denmark, followed by a more recent 6-1 thrashing of China in their last group match. With three wins, the Lionesses are on course for their quest to win the 2023 Women’s World Cup. In addition, the Lionesses will be looking to get to the 2023 Women’s World Cup final after winning the Euros in 2022.
England’s next fixture
The competition began on Thursday, July 20th, and will conclude on Sunday, August 20th. England topped their group, guaranteeing a knockout match against Nigeria, and avoiding hosts Australia. The Lionesses’ ranked 4th will play against Nigeria at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Monday, August 7th. The Lionesses are favoured to defeat Nigeria, currently ranked 40th in the world.
Who will win the 2023 Women’s World Cup?
The Lionesses are one of the favourites to win the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. However, there is a number of other teams who are also strong contenders for winning the tournament, including squads like Spain, France, Germany, and of course, the United States. The Lionesses, have already faced some difficult challenges, including injuries to midfielder Keira Walsh.
